Top 5 Sweet Things About My Weekend

This was a great weekend and here’s a few of the things that made it sweeter:

                5.  Our house guest , Kelly, cleaned the kid’s bathroom and it was BeAuTiFuL.  This girl can clean and it makes me happy.

                4.  It was so much fun watching two middle school boys crack themselves up at the movie.  Oh…middle school boys…what strange creatures they are!

                3.  The simple gratitude of a child.  I bought j-man some new clothes and he was so excited and thankful .  Awww…let me revel in this for a moment longer.

                2.  Cleaned and organized (yes, I love things clean and organized mucho) the kitchen patry.  I have a good size panty and with some many people in the house it does get to be a bit messy after awhile.  But it is currently the perfect example of organizational nirvana.

                1.  And finally…drum roll please…The #1 sweet thing about my weekend….the wonderful time with my sister.  I have not always had the closest relationship with my sister, but a family tragegy has recently brought us closer than I thought we could ever be.  We got our nails done together and when paired with some Starbucks nothing could be sweeter.

Home Sweet Home

About a year ago we moved into a much smaller house. It has not been the easiest of transitions, honestly it has been a difficult one.  Not just because we have less space, but for many more reasons than I care to think about.  That said, everyone seems to be doing better as the months have gone by.  So here’s a list of how the new house has gotten sweeter with time…. (in no specific order)
·         Much less housework to do
·         I really prefer the neighbors in this community
·         The street is quiet and since it’s a dead end street there is no real traffic
·         I love the big mature trees in the backyard
·         I like the office in the front of the house so I can see out of the front windows while I work
·         I got a new dishwasher and I LOVE it
·         I have a Dogwood tree, Creep Myrtle trees and a Red Bud…I love the new trees
·         I have ceramic tile in the kitchen – thanks Daddy!
·         And I really love the new toilets J and my Dad just put in…they are higher…a real porcelain  throne.

Let's Start with Introductions

One of my favorite movies is The Sound of Music. I love all the songs, but especially the "Do, Re, Mi" song...The line that goes, "...let's start at the very beginning..." is what I'm thinking about now. So here goes...
I am just beginning a journey of new discovery. I'm not sure where this journey will take me, but I'm excited to discover new things and rediscover things that I have lost over the years. At 41 yrs old (ok...42 yrs in November), I'm about to have an empty nest and a new career.

I'm a mother of three great kids (yeah, I know everyone’s says that their kids are great). Brielle is 20 yrs old and a junior in college. Kaitlynn is 18 yrs old and has just graduated from high school. My youngest is 15 yrs old; my son Timothy will be a sophomore in high school in the fall. Tim has just moved to live with his dad in Maryland and both of my daughters are launching out on their own this summer to begin their lives of adulthood...or something like that anyway.

I have lived in Charlotte for 5 yrs now and I love living in the south. Charlotte is a city mixed with southern charm, urban sprawl and a small bit of sophistication.   My life here isn’t ordinary, but it’s not worthy of a reality TV show either.  The purpose of writing this blog is to remind myself (and maybe some of you) of the many things in life that get sweeter with time...so here goes.

Cheers to us all!!
